His Lordship, Bishop Willybard Lagho, the Bishop of the Diocese of Malindi, joined the faithful at Christ the King Catholic Church in Malindi for a solemn celebration as he led the sacrament of Confirmation, also known as Kipaimara. The ceremony, held over the weekend, saw a number of young Catholics receiving the sacrament, strengthening their commitment to the faith.
During the Mass, Bishop Lagho delivered a powerful homily, emphasizing the importance of truthfulness in every situation. He encouraged the congregation to always speak the truth, regardless of the circumstances, and highlighted that integrity is not limited to financial matters but extends to all aspects of life.
"Corruption is not just about money," Bishop Lagho stated. "It can be seen in the way we distort the truth in our daily lives, in our words, and in our actions. As Christians, we are called to live with honesty and transparency, in line with the teachings of Christ."
The Bishop further referenced the example of Jesus Christ during His trial before the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate. When asked whether He was the King of the Jews, Jesus boldly spoke the truth, despite the risks it posed to His life. Bishop Lagho pointed out that, like Christ, Christians must stand firm in their faith and always speak the truth, no matter the pressure or consequences.
The ceremony was a moment of spiritual renewal for the community, as many of the confirmands took the opportunity to deepen their commitment to living out their Catholic faith. The service was filled with prayer, reflection, and joyous celebration as the faithful reaffirmed their Christian vows.
Bishop Lagho concluded the Mass by blessing the confirmands, urging them to be witnesses of Christ's truth and light in the world, and to carry the message of integrity and honesty in their daily lives. "May the Holy Spirit guide you as you walk in faith, truth, and love," he said.
