BRIEF HISTORY OF MAGARINI CATHOLIC MISSION
Magarini Catholic Mission was officially established on 13th December 2020, the mission was
curved from the eastern side of Marafa Parish. Magarini Mission covers part of the larger
Magarini Constituency.
Magarini Mission has four outstations: namely, St. Luke's Catholic Church
-Bomani, Sacred Heart of Jesus - Magarini, St. Peter's Catholic Church G.l.S, and Mary Mother of
Mercy Catholic Church - Kaembeni, which is the main center of the Mission.
Currently the
Mission has two priests. The Mission has approximately 90 families which are distributed in the
four outstations.
Magarini Mission at large and most of the outstations are spread in a vast semi-
arid area inhabited by the Mijikendas and mainly the Giriamas, who are subsistence farmers.
Most of the inhabitants of our mission depend entirely on subsistence farming for their
livelihood.
