Fr. Malasi at the Cathedral fundraising

In a heartfelt gathering, His Lordship, Bishop Willybard Lagho, presided over the fundraising event, aimed at supporting the construction of the Stella Maris Pastoral Centre in Watamu.

The event, held at Lamu Deanery, attracted a large congregation eager to contribute to the project, which promises to enhance the spiritual, employment and community service in the region.

During the sermon, His Lordship shared an inspiring message from the Gospel, recounting the story of Blind Bartimaeus, the blind beggar who was healed by Jesus. He emphasized the importance of faith and perseverance, encouraging the congregation to contribute generously towards the Stella Maris Pastoral Centre, likening their support to Bartimaeus unwavering hope for healing.

In a parallel initiative, Fr. Benard Malasi held a similar fundraising event in the Catholic Diocese of Malindi, reinforcing the collaborative spirit within the region, while Fr. Ambrose Muli at the Mere Parish.

The Lamu deanary raised Two million, eight hundred and twenty nine thousand and one hundred and fifty Kenyan shillings and the Cathedral raised, Two million, six hundred and seventy five thousand three hundred and thirty Kenyan shillings.

Both events highlighted a growing commitment to fostering spiritual growth and community support.

With the continued support of the community and the leadership of the diocese, the Stella Maris Pastoral Centre is set to become a beacon of employment and service in Watamu.

His lordship, Bishop Willybard Lagho, thanked the congregation for being available for the fundraising and also encouraged them to continue supporting other diocesan projects.
